Well, summer has found us and it is so hot in my home/office I can barely stand it. And, I’m not the only one.
This is one of my 5 year old King Charles Cavalier Spaniels. Her name is Mrs. Brigitte Bardot. She works here at the DAMY Health Office in beautiful sunny Vancouver.
She is supposed to do PR, filing and assistant work but she claims she was hired to be a model and refuses to do anything else. I guess you get what you pay for! This is a common sight at DAMY Health HQ.
One good thing about the heat is I find myself leaning more towards raw, cold foods. Which is great. I don’t have to turn on the oven and I’m tending to eat more nutrient dense, vibrant meals.

I have been loving our red pepper caesar salad dressing on huge bowls of salad and our zucchini pasta. I highly recommend both recipes on these hot summer days. Now, these cravings above are great and actually improve my day-to-day life. But, there’s another craving that I would consider a treat that I find myself wanting on Friday nights. It’s a Margarita.
I don’t know what it is. I don’t drink alcohol often but something about this crazy heat combined with the end of an intense week leaves me desperately wanting a margarita or two. I have tried ordering one at a restaurant and it was just sugary, pre-made and gross. I couldn’t even drink it. So, I decided to make my own simple, clean recipe and I love it.
I also find that the fact that this recipe doesn’t contain any extra sugar I don’t get that groggy, puffy-eyed detox in the morning after having it. I think that one to three of these natural margaritas is a wonderful summer treat. You can check out the recipe below.
This recipe is simple, contains no added sugar, is vegan, refreshing, sweet and the perfect summer cocktail.
All Natural Skinny Lime Margarita w/ Orange Twist (No Added Sugar)
Prep time: 5 Minutes
Yield: 2 Servings
- 1-2 Handfuls Ice
- 1 Litre Pure Water
- Juice of 4 Freshly Squeezed Limes (w/ Pulp)
- Juice of 1/2 a Large Orange
- Drops of Stevia (to taste)
- 2 Oz Premium Tequila
- Using a citrus juice press (lime squeezer or wooden reamer) extract the juice and pulp of the limes and orange into a 1 litre mason jar.
- Add your ice to the jar along with your tequila.
- Fill your mason jar 80% full with cold water (filtered is great).
- Add 5 drops of liquid stevia (if you like your margarita sweeter you can taste it and use more later).
- Place the cover on the mason jar tightly and shake.
- Remove cover and pour your margaritas into two separate glasses.
- Garnish with a lime wedge and straw.
- Serve and enjoy!
