During the day is when we do all our hard work and clean eating but at night, while we sleep, is when our fat burning and muscle building takes place. Sleep is essential. Sleeping contributes to overall health physically and mentally. Lack of sleep has been shown to cut years off a life-span. Getting 7-8 hours of sleep is essential.

*Try not watching tv before bed – watching tv before going to sleep has been shown to stimulate the mind and body making it harder to relax.

*Try reading before bed – pick something relaxing and easy to read.

*Make sure your room is dark – light indicates to the body that it is time to wake up.

*Try taking a warm bath before bed in candlelight – this will sooth the body and the mind.

*Try not eating too spicy of food for your last meal of the day – trying to fall asleep with heartburn is near impossible.

*Try having a chamomile tea before bed – the warm soothing tea makes you feel cozy.

*Try having your bedroom temperature a bit lower than the rest of the house – pile on the blankets or cozy-up to a loved one. The clean cooler air is healthier for the body and makes you have a more restful sleep.
