These are three myths that just won’t go away!  They don’t work and end up causing a lot of people a lot of grief.  Here are the reasons why they don’t work and the simple answer to diet freedom.

Myth #1 – Cutting carbs makes you lose weight.

There are many problems with cutting carbs.  First and foremost, you should never cut any food group.  Cutting complex carbohydrates can lead to:

Loss of energy
Mood swings
Weight retention
Depression
Vitamin depletion
Sagging skin

These are just a few reasons to make sure you are getting your complex carbohydrates everyday.  Know your portion sizes and the best times of day to consume this healthy food group.  Make it whole grain and keep your portions in check.

Myth #2 – Starving yourself is the best way to lose weight.

This could not be further from the truth.  In many cases clients that come to me with weight they just can’t lose are simply just not eating enough.  Starving your body will lead to:

Hair loss
Dry skin
Dizziness
Retain weight
Weakness
Shortness of breath
Mood swings
Depression

When you starve your body you’re sending out the message to hang on to every fat cell and ever morsel of food that comes into your body.  Aside from feeling tired, dazed, and lethargic you will not get to your goal.  In the few cases of people that have had success with crash diets they have almost instantly gained all the weight back plus more after returning to a normal diet.  The way to avoid this is to find a healthy, well-rounded meal plan that is realistic for your lifestyle and delivers life-long results.  This is the point.  You never want to feel like you are continually dieting.  You want to learn to live an active, healthy lifestyle.  Eating 5-6 small meals a day that are well balanced and timed appropriately will have you never going hungry, never craving, and losing those stubborn pounds.

Myth #3 – All you have to do to lose weight is count calories.

This is a hard one to understand.  We have been bombarded by diets that have taught us that all we have to do is stay within a certain calorie range.  There are many factors that go into a well-rounded diet.  This comes down to balance!  Balance of caloric need, nutrients, vitamins, minerals, fats, complex carbohydrates…all of this comes together and effects the look and feel of your physique.  Now this sounds confusing.  The wonderful thing is, the average individual doesn’t need to know all these details. What everyone needs is someone to build a healthy, successful eating regimen for them.  This is what we are here for.  We do all the thinking for you.  I can guarantee you that a woman that eats 1500 calories of takeout everyday will look much different than the woman that eats 1500 calories in fruits, nuts, vegetables, whole grains and healthy fats.
