*Great options are whey, hemp, soy and brown rice. Pure whey is our favorite but if you are dairy free the others are great as well.
You want to go for the most natural and very little amount of ingredients on the back. You are not looking for a “meal replacement” just a protein powder.
You want to have protein powder max 2 times a day (best being once a day). Real food is always BEST. Protein powder is used to round out the protein in meals or snacks or for a fast way to get your protein (A column) into your meal.
You are looking for around these numbers per serving – less then 3 grams of sugar, 5 grams or less of cabs and 20 grams or more of protein (do not go far over 20 grams – you can only absorb 20 grams of protein per meal so too far in excess is a waste).
Some brands we like that have some good products (always read the back because these brands also carry high-sugar/weight-gain type protein powders): Whey Gourmet Natural, Sun Warrior, Hemps, Boku, Magnum, New Zealand Whey and PVL.
If you want to take a picture of the nutrition info on the back and send it to me I will take a look and approve it for you :).
