New Kicks – Quality Sneakers

Our 31 Days together is going so quickly! These next few days I want you to take care of yourself by following these important lessons! Today is all about New Kicks!

Having a quality pair of sneakers is essential if you are starting or maintaining a workout program. Our feet take the most impact of our entire body and need to be looked after! Without proper foot support problems can start at the feet and radiate up the body.

It is extremely important to have good sneakers for exercise! When we invest in sneakers they can be pricey so we think they will last a long time. The truth is, depending on your level of exercise and frequency, your sneakers will break down quicker than you think. If you run 6 days a week your sneakers should be replaced in no more than 6 months. All sneakers should be replaced each year no matter what your level of exercise. Not only do the sneakers lose support they can also harbor bacteria causing infections.

When choosing a pair of sneakers comfort is first, looks is second. Fill your sales associate in on what style of workout you participate in and let them direct you to the appropriate footwear section for you.

When you try on your sneakers take a lap around the store doing what you are going to do. If you jump, jump, if you jog, jog, etc. I have been known to do lunges at Sportscheck (don’t judge me – lol). Honestly, get a good feel for your sneakers before you purchase.

Do you need new sneakers?

Task for the Day

Be sure to check in with your workout sneakers and see if they need to be replaced. Re-evaluate them every 6 months to 1 year.
