This Hot Apple Ginger Drink is perfect for those cooler days. I absolutely adore this drink for warming me from the inside out and as a substitution for coffee or tea (I haven’t drank coffee for over 3 years – If you want to know more about why and how click here).

This drink works on two levels of warming. It is warm (obviously – from the title lol). But also, the ginger is a fabulous root with many benefits including its warming effects on the digestive tract.

Ginger is great for aiding in digestion and helps with nausea. I really enjoy having this drink as part of my mid-morning snack on cold days.

I first discovered this recipe at a wonderful little juice bar in the Granville Island Public Market. I’ve been obsessed with making it at home ever since.

This recipe is crazy easy. So much so that I don’t know if it can quite qualify as a recipe or just as a combination.

Run sweet apples and ginger through your juicer, place juice in a sauce pan over low heat and heat until desired warmth. Serve and enjoy!

Note: Start with just a couple small pieces of ginger and work your way up to taste. You can always add more but you can’t take. I also add warm water to my drink as I like it to be a more mild, watered down flavor.

If you enjoy the idea of using ginger to warm your body from the inside out but are not much into the heating part of this recipe this Energizing Orange & Ginger Smoothie might be for you.
