So here I am again! I have made my fitness show plans for the year. I will be doing my first show in June of this year. This means that my diet has tightened up and I will be eating perfectly clean for 12 weeks. That means no chocolate or wine (my favourite indulgences). When preparing for a show like this you are being judged on your physique, pose, over all healthy appearance and personality! Its funny how things go, I don’t have a hard time with cravings until I put it in my book that today is the day where I tighten up and leave the sweet things until June. (I am very fortunate that I do not crave the salty or fried stuff ever) So as it always happens my mind tests me right out of the gate “are you sure you want to do this??, don’t you want something sweet?” I have found what works best for me at night to deal with my cravings is herbal tea. I find a box of berry and fruit teas. They always have amazing pictures on the front. Last night I wanted to hurt someone I wanted some sugar so bad, but instead I reached for the herb tea. I put on my cozy jammies and sat down and slowly drank my tangerine and cherry tea. It was amazing. I drank it slow and thought over my day. I went to bed feeling warm on the inside and so proud of myself for not giving into temptation.
Setting goals for yourself and then accomplishing them is the best feeling. They don’t have to be as long as 12 weeks, but set one. Tell yourself that you will eat clean, drink all your water and not have any sweets, wine, or fattening foods for 3 weeks. Then plan a night out at the 3 week mark. Go out and have fun! Have a nice dinner and a couple glasses of wine. The next morning jump back on your eating plan. I swear, you will feel so proud you stuck to it, you will enjoy your dinner and wine like never before and you will be so excited to jump back on plan the next day!
Life is about balance. Adding some structure in the form of goals is healthy and keeps us on task. At the end of the day we all want to feel good, have lots of energy, be at a healthy, happy weight and feel proud of our selves!
