Use your competitive nature. Make 1 positive change in your life today.

In earlier posts we’ve made it clear that to dramatically improve your health you need to move your body. It only takes 15 to 30 minutes per day of light activity to get started.

I want to introduce an idea that is popular among competitive athletes but can be applied to various aspects of our lives. This concept is called streaking. Streaking simply means forming a streak or completing a task on a daily schedule. For the purpose of creating health I like to focus on a streak that is based on doing something beneficial for my body everyday.

This concept can be applied to many different tasks such as 30 min walks, drinking green tea, eating vegetables, meditating, or even neglecting negative habits such as smoking, drinking, or anything that has no positive effect on your life.

Personally I’m proud of my current green tea streak. I have had at least 1 glass the last 10 days in a row. I have seen positive changes in my energy level and overall feeling. Others apply this concept to improve their fitness. Try jogging 10 minutes each day for the next 30 days. The toughest part of improving your jogging is just getting outside. If you focus on keeping the streak alive you will challenge yourself each day and may even continue past the 10 minute mark!

Challenge yourself today by starting a streak that will contribute to your health!
