I love apple crisp! I’m not going to go as far to say that this is as good as my Mother’s Apple Crisp but it is a close second! And, it is almost guilt-free. As far as dessert goes this is an awesome option.
In making this recipe for the photos below I ran out of my coconut oil and ended up using Olive Oil. It turned out just as delicious. So, if you don’t have any coconut oil no worries simply use your olive oil.
For the ice cream I love using our Coconut Ice Cream. What I do with the ice cream for this recipe is add some extra cinnamon and a dash of nutmeg. I am telling you the combination of this apple crisp and the coconut ice cream with the extra spices is to-die-for! Please, please make it!
If you are a whip cream person feel free to use our Coconut Whipped Cream found here.
I hope you enjoy this warm, comforting dessert as much as we do!

I have an issue…………i’m addicted to your site. Seriously, you have the BEST recipes out there and not only that but your posts are just simply refreshing. I adore how positive you are. It’s great 🙂
Anyways, this apple crisp is the best i’ve ever had. No joke. It’s a whole lotta happiness in my mouth. I axed the lemon juice because I found that it gave it a weird flavor that my tastebuds weren’t diggin but once I did that, YUM! Thanks again!
omg I love you!!! Thank you so much 🙂 You just made my night. You are so darn sweet!!! I hope you have a great weekend. Thank you so much for stopping by and spreading the comment-love 🙂Â
I have to admit that this is my go to recipe when I’m graving apple crisp and when I’m entertaining and trying to convince others to eat healthy! Such a great dish and I think it shows others how healthy eating can taste great! Thanks for all the yummy recipes!
That is so great to hear! Hope you had a wonderful weekend!!!Â
My son has a nut allergy….any suggestion on what to use besides almond flour? Would gf oat flour work? Â
Hey GIna! Yes! Oat flour will work great. Enjoy 🙂Â
What about coconut flour?
Coconut flour will not work for this recipe. It is too dry and cooks differently.
Geez, Amy! So here I am looking for a gluten free apple crisp, and all I had to do was go down the hall and ask?! Lol. Thanks, lady! – Karen
Too Funny! Enjoy 🙂 It is so, so good!
wow, this looks great, gotta try it! LOVE all the recipes I am seeing. Thank you!
Thanks Barbara!
Made this for dessert tonight as I was craving something sweet and had a whole heap of apples that needed to be used! So quick and easy and tasted amazing! I’ll definitely be making this again and maybe adding some raisins or shredded coconut! YUM!
It is the perfect sweet replacement Sarah! So glad you loved it.
Almond flour is quite expensive, can I substitute brown rice flour?
This was absolutely fantastic. The only thing I changed was that I added a bit of vanilla to the topping! Thank you!
Great idea Jill!
I dont use any flour works great! Apple pie spice and cinnamon deletes need for nutmeg. And ivthrough in fresh cranberries sometimes!!
Great Donna!
I don’t use baking powder too much sodium or baking soda either.
If I want to make enough for 6-8 servings for Thanksgiving, do I just double the ingredients?
I would triple it just to be safe. They will love it! Enjoy!
Hi, I was wondering if you have the nutrient information for this yummy dessert?
Hi Rebecca, This is a nutrient count free site! The details are here: http://www.damyhealth.com/faq/#countcalories
Hi! This looks great! Just to clarify, do you add the lemon to the apples or to the crust? Thanks
To the apples 🙂 enjoy!
Thanks! It was delicious!
Same question as above about the lemon juice
Hello – I am wondering if this would freeze ok? I’m looking for something to make ahead of time and freeze for Thanksgiving.
Hey Cathy! I have never frozen this recipe before. It is super fast and simple to make fresh before. The only thing I would worry about making it and freezing it would be the apples. I would worry they might be “mushy”.
I am making this for the parentals tonight! Do you think it would be okay to dice the apples rather than slice them? It’s just a personal preference 🙂 i can’t wait to make it!!
Hi, I tried this recipe and very much enjoyed it !! Thank you so much 🙂
I had a question, do you think it would taste good adding the lemon straight to the apples instead of mixing it in with the topping ? And just to clarify, it’s 1tbsp agave mixed with the apples and 3 tbsp agave mixed with the topping ?
We really enjoy this using the maple syrup option and omitting the nutmeg per personal taste. Thank you for sharing!
